No One Lives Forever 2: Agent secret mission (AKA No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in HARM’s Way ) is a by the US studio Monolith Productions developed first-person shooter and the sequel to the 2000 released No One Lives Forever . The action game was released on October 18, 2002 by Fox Interactive and Sierra Entertainment for Microsoft Windows . In 2003, an offshoot titled Contract JACK was released , but not the story of No One Lives ForeverParts and has a new male protagonist.

No One Lives Forever 2 is a first-person shooter with pronounced stealth and rudimentary role-playing elements that plays during the Cold War . As in the first part, the player takes control of the protagonist Cate Archer, a secret agent of the British intelligence agency UNITY . Their opponent is again the terrorist organization H.ARM. However, the visual concept has been largely changed. The main character Cate Archer has been visually redesigned, the colorful reference to the Swinging Sixties- in the first game a significant part of the atmosphere – is largely missing. Plots, equipment, enemies and plot are still versatile and humorous. For example, Archer leads her missions to India , to a secret underwater base at HARM, and to an Antarctic research station. Among their aids this time include exploding robot cats and non-lethal banana peels . Although most of the game sections are linear, including the claustrophobic research station, there are also deviant levels such as Siberia , where the player enjoys more freedom of action.

This reminds No One Lives Forever 2 of action role-playing games like Deus Ex . The scary atmosphere and gameplay in the Antarctic research facility are again inspired by the survival horror .

Compared to the first part, the graphics were also greatly optimized, u. a. Facial animations have been improved, Ragdoll physics integrated, and the advanced Lithalt Jupiter engine uses pixel shaders for realistic water imaging . The textures are high-resolution and the 3D models much more detailed.
